Labels for Education :
"Get Free Stuff for Your School"

Dear Parents/Guardians and friends of APC Weekday Preschool:

The APC Weekday Preschool is now participating in the Labels for Education® program. My name is Jen Migliaccio and I am the Labels for Education coordinator for our school. Through the program, we can collect UPCs and beverage caps from participating products to earn points that can be redeemed for FREE educational merchandise!

Our goal year is to collect points that we can redeem for teaching resources. It's easy to help-simply save UPCs and beverage caps from participating products and drop them off in the box in the church.

Mission Partnership: Calvin Presbyterian

We are still collecting any used clothing or shoes to bring down to Calvin Presbyterian. We can pick that up from you directly or you can bring it to church or the garden night. This need like food never stops, especially for children.

We have also found out that Calvin Presbyterian will be starting a daycare/preschool in the fall. We will be collecting items that would be useful for that as well. This could be new or gently used toys, games, puzzles, books,etc. Anything we could supply them with is something they don't have to buy. We can also pick up items like this from your home or you can bring them to church or the garden night. I am in the process of finding out more specifics about this new program. This might be a fun way we could bless Calvin church itself which is doing much for many with little.

Our own church as well as Calvin Presbyterian operates a food pantry for area people who are hungry. Please bring any food donations and now they will get to a place where they can be used.

The Parents’ Group of Ardmore Presbyterian Church Weekday Preschool presents

FAMILY FUN DAY for our preschool children. It is an annual fundraiser which enables the Preschool to buy playground equipment, make Rainbow Room improvements,

purchase larger classroom teaching materials and bring special programs to the school.

A percentage will also be donated to the Eddie Kaier Preschool Scholarship Fund.

Mill Creek Room, Sunday morning March 4^th.

Advanced bidding for the Silent Auction will be held

Thursday, March 8^th from 9 - 11 am

Friday, March 9^th from 9 – 11 am in the Mill Creek Room

FINAL BIDDING is on Saturday, March 10^th, 3 – 4 pm,

during the event.

A list of items will be published & available

online for prior perusal.

What’s Happening in the Weekday Preschool?

Take a look at the “Gallery” under the Preschool Link on our APC website – www.ardmorepres.org. These pictures show happy children enjoying a wide variety of activities.

Family Fun Day, our annual fund-raising event, was a giant success. Games, prizes, face painting, food, entertainment for children and a silent auction for adults raised over $6,000 to be used for new preschool equipment – i.e. recent Rainbow Room improvements, a new merry-go-round on the playground and special programs. Our parents are amazing, creative and supportive.

Preschoolers hopped in a Hop-A-Thon for Muscular Dystrophy. Lessons on differences, disabilities and judging by people’s appearances were incorporated. We raised $800 for MDA.

The 3 and 5 day classes traveled to Rolling Hill Park for a River Ramble, which included wading in Mill Creek exploring stream life. This nature walk is presented by the education staff of Lower Merion Conservancy.

Safari Parties, a live animal presentation enthralled the 3 and 5 day children as they saw at close range 15-29 different animals – reptiles, birds, amphibians and mammals. They gently petted most of the animals and the brave ones wore a live python.

We followed the complete life-cycle of the butterfly and released them on the church lawn.

A program on Burn Prevention and Safety was presented by the Burn Foundation of
Philadelphia.

An appreciation All-School Picnic was held at South Ardmore Park. Teachers and parents were acknowledged and honored in a fun community event.

SNOW CLOSINGS - February 11, 2010

The Ardmore Presbyterian Church Preschool will be closed for Thursday, February 11, 2010. Due to the Presidents' Day weekend, the preschool will also be closed on Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day, and we look forward to seeing your children on Tuesday, February 16.

• WEDNESDAY PLUS and YOUTH FELLOWSHIP will be canceled for February 10, 2010.

• Just as a reminder, we have no WEDNESDAY PLUS and YOUTH FELLOWSHIP on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2010. So we will see you in two weeks.
